1. A Sikhni, once married should perform her wifely duties of being faithful to her husband just as mentioned in Gurbani,

Even her husband should also be faithful to his wife, and not look at another woman.

2. Both Sikh and Sikhni should be Dharmic, follow the Rehat of the Guru, and have love for Sikhi.

3. The Sikhni should only adorn herself good attributes such as calmness, contentment, sweet speech, humility, forgiveness. She should not be hot-tempered.

4. Live a simple life. Wear simple clothing, eat simple food. By indulging in current fashion-wear and unhealthy food, the Sikhni's mind will become impure and lead to the 5 vices.

5. Both Sikh and Sikhni should take the Khandey Di Pahul and be Amritdhari, live an honest living and their home should have a peaceful ambience.

6. When the Sikhni is pregnant, she should read these Shabads to protect the fetus in her womb;
  • Mool Mantar
  • Jap Ji Sahib
  • Shabad starting with 'Sirr Mastak Rakhiaa Parbrahmang Hast Kaya Rakhiaa Parmeswarah'
  • Shabad starting with 'Rogan Tey Ar Sogan Tey Jal Jogan Tey Bahu Bhaant Bachavai'
  • Shabad Bilawal Mahala Panjva, 'Tatti Vao Na Lagaee Parbrahm Sarnnaee'

7. In the home where the Sikh and Sikhni are living, pictures of Guru Sahibaan, Gurmukhs, Shaheed Singhs and Saints should be put up on the wall such as Baba Deep Singh Ji, Bhai Mani Singh Ji etc. Do not put up such pictures which when looked at, will cause turmoil in the mind and thus will affect the fetus as well. Refrain from watching movies or listening to worldly songs. Read Bani and listen to katha and kirtan.

The mind and body of the mother will affect that of the fetus. Whatever the mother allows into her mind and body will influence the nature of the child she brings into this world.

8. The moment the child is born, start reciting Vaheguru so the child can hear it. Do not speak anything else. When the child is born, the first breath the child takes breaks the concentration it has been in with Vaheguru for 9 months in the womb. When it is born, let the child hear Vaheguru simran so the child can remain focused in Vaheguru. In Anand Sahib Pauri 28 and 29, Guru Amar Das Ji has spoken about this as well.

Do this experiment with babies, when you recite Vaheguru, the child will stop cying and their body will become stiff. Their eyes will not move as well.

9. After that, perform the ceremony of Janam Sanskaar as per the Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct).

10. Bring up the child in accordance to the teachings of Sikhi.

THE END
